RUGELEY POWER STATION MODEL CLUB

NEWSLETTER.

Dear Member, CHILDREN IN NEED 16 October 2010

Whilst the weather was a bit mixed, you will be pleased to know that, on the day, we raised £200.00. for the charity.

A big thank you to all the members who put in a lot of effort, in some cases, well beyond what their doctors would be happy with !! The football competition went off far better than some of us expected (!), as did the other competitions. In the evening, the quality of the lighting used on the boats was truly outstanding. Again, thank you, all, for the effort which created such a magical look on the water.

With Wednesday sailing just about finished, looking back over it, I feel we have had a really good season.

The Club 500 created far more interest than we expected, but it was fun and that is what it is all about. Next year, it looks as if it could have even more possibilities. In fact, Wednesdays became so popular, with everyone filling their face, halfway through, that no one has been appearing on a Sunday.

We will of course, still be meeting on a Wednesday, during the Winter.

I think this is very important, if we are to hold the Club together. It gets you out for the night, retains contact, and more to the point, gives the chance to swap ideas.

There will be our Xmas dinner on the 2nd Wednesday of December. We need to have names and a deposit at the November monthly meeting. Numbers are limited by the lounge size. Cost for the full 'works' will be between £12.0 and £15.00

On paper our membership is the highest for some years and compared with some other Clubs I do believe we have an atmosphere of friendship and help, which comes from the members and is second to none.

As your chairman, therefore, I was saddened to see that only A THIRD of the membership where at the Children in Need.

This is our one event in the year when we try and do something special.

Gwen went to the trouble of advising everyone, by mail or Email, yet we did not get one apology from those who did not turn up. I tell a lie; I got an apology from a regular attending member; he was very sorry, he gave a generous contribution, but he was taking his wife on holiday following a very serious operation and treatment.

This is your Club, Members, you only get out of it, what you put into it!!

Brian Rogers, Chairman.
